It's no secret that I really like frogs. I have a large collection of stuffed ones that I'll probably have to shoot and post for laughs later. So when I found this Power Rangers Zord frog robot for a couple bucks at a toy meet a couple years back, it was a no-brainer that I *had* to get it, whether I ever found a way to work it into the Micro collection or not--but knew I probably eventually would.
But then it turned out to be a tough nut to crack--there wasn't any place I could really fit a figure or a seat. The frog itself becomes the "pants" of the giant robot it once gestalted into, and about the right size for a Biotron, so I thought along those lines for a while. Finally I was looking at it and realized that the head was hollow and visualised how it could seat a figure, so I removed the top of the frog.
Inside was a latching mechanism for the gestalt mode held in by a screw, so I removed that. I then sawed it into sections, leaving a hole where I wanted the figure to sit. By complete chance, the remaining part neatly fit into a seat back position and the screw mount for the mechanism I removed turned out to be a PERFECTLY POSITIONED 5mm PEG:
And the new seat "hatch" can still be shut, too:
What serendipity! I'm really pleased with this, and will probably continue to refine this little guy some more later, with some sanding, repainting, and addition of new raised 5mm ports to complete it's assimilation into the alien Micronaut culture. XD
